Help with radio
I am having a lot of problems with the CD player in my truck. A friend gave me the radio out of his truck when he changed his out for a fancier one. I just dont know what it will take to get my radio out. I dont want to start breaking dash face plates if I dont have to. Any help would be appreciated.
Here's a link to a website with instructions on removing the stereo from our trucks. Dodge Dash Disassembly Instructions
I used these instructions and it made the removal process a breeze.
For the surround panel the stereo sits in I recommend starting on the drivers side top corner. This spot gives you a lip to start pulling on. If you have an automatic, with the truck not running, drop the lever down into a gear (first?) to get it out of your way. Then, wrap your fingers around the panel near the top and gently start pulling it back toward you. It's attached with clips so use firm steady pressure and it will start coming loose. As it starts moving just keep running your fingers into the gap and slowly keep pulling.
I would also have a towel handy so you can wrap the panel up once you've got it off, as it will still have multiple electrical connections for the HVAC, etc. I just wrapped mine up with a towel and left it hanging from the dash when I removed the stereo.
Good luck.
