Had to turn of engine at drive thru

I went to taco bell drive thru last night and i tried to order and the person taking my order said that they could not understand me that i would have to turn off my engine. I know my 05 is a little loud but i didnt think it was that bad. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

I refuse to shut it off. I'll just pull up to the window and give em my order there.

haha, I usualy go inside to order. Sometimes my truck is a little to big to get through the narrow drive throughs. A while ago I had to get 2 wheels up over the curb and on the grass at this little hamburger joint. The lady asked me to shut off my truck and I went head to the next window. She laughed when she saw my truck leaning to one side.

That happened to me once when I had the '03. I made a little game out of it when she said she could not hear me. I kept hollering back for her to speak up, because I could not hear what she was saying. This went back and forth a few times, till she finally hollered for me to pull to the window and place my order........

Got to the window and told her they really need to do something about their speaker because it is hard to hear them with my diesel engine running.

My "99" keeps me out of the drive thru, and my waste line thanks me.

Hah, I can't believe you had to shut off your 3rd Gen. I can keep my truck running at some drive throughs and others I cannot. In the winter I just pull to the window.... although I have to agree with Geico, it's often easier to just pass the fast food joints. They are sooooo bad for you even when you are in great shape.

I try not to upset the people that are alone with my food before they hand it out the window. I was a little on the mean side when I was younger but a different kind of mean than some of these kids nowadays. LOL

Welcome to the Ol Rattler's club!! Have to shut mine off at every drive thru, and I can attest to the waist line comments.

I always shut mine off. Most of the time they can't get the order right at the counter face to face, so I don't want to complicate things with extra noise. It's not really that difficult to just turn the key.

If you really want to have some fun, turn the high idle on at the bank drive thru. Nobody inside or outside will hear a word they are saying to each other. Had a teller yelling at me to shut it down because none of the tellers inside could hear their customers!

Of course the more affluent people have this problem when they pull into the drive-in teller window at the bank to deposit their extra cash.

Besides, my little dog hangs out the window to beg for a snack. I don't want to create hard feelings and not get the snack!

This little beauty required a megaphone to carry on a conversation at any drive thru----

Kinda miss that with my 2003.
