Yup - I'll shut her down, it get's me a higher percentage of getting what I ordered.
I think Leo Getz in Lethal Weapon 2 said it best.. hmmmm... something about drive thru service.

Happens to me every time I go to the local Hardee's for a angus burger. It's the same girl every time. My daughter and I went inside after school yesterday and she said HEY, it's you with the loud truck.

I am not going to shut down if my EGT gauge isn't down to around 350 degrees or so. I will just pull around to the drive thru window. However, I don't recall them asking me very often.

I always turn mine off. I cant hear them, and I have to yell to tell them what I want. I had a bad relay a while back that goes to the starter. 1 out of 10 times or so my truck wouldnt start, and id have to get under it, and jump it with a screwdriver. I went through McDonalds one day, and tried to leave it running, and they asked me to shut it off, so i did. Then I went to Taco Bell one night, and urned i off. It wouyldnt start back; so here I am holding up the line(luckily a buddy was right behind me) while i get underneath my truck with a screwdriver to start it.lol Im glad to have that fixed.

To each their own, but... If shutting down a turbo while hot really does hurt it then why isn't there a whole line of turbocharged cars sitting along side the road with bad turbo bearings? Honestly how many Volvo or Subaru owners do you think let their cars "cool down" before shutting them off?
I'm not picking on you, it's your truck, your turbo, and your money but you could take the money you waste letting your truck idle, and the time you waste sitting there,(unless you have a turbo timer) and probably buy a new charger every other year. I will let mine cool off for a few seconds after a hard stop light grand prix, or pulling a trailer. But it's usually cool enough to shut down just by creeping through the parking lot of Barfing Arches.

Because they DON"T break down on the SIDE OF THE ROAD.They whine and scream/suck oil and go into shops for replacements.I cannot begin to remember how many gas autos I've handled replacement turbos on.Some two or three times over a 100k with new oil feed lines etc.
