My heated seats suck as well. Never heat up till I sit on them for a few minutes...so is it my body heat doing some of the warming up? Compared to our cherokee and our MB they are useless.... and they are both DC products.
I tested the block heater today in -5*F weather using the reading on my Outlook. Plugged it in, coolant temp @ 35*. 2 hours later coolant @ 87* parked in an unheated garage. An Espar would be nice

I wish there was some way to fix/adjust these heated seats. I want them hot like RIGHT NOW when I'm freezing, not 3 minutes later down the road. Also they just don't get hot enough. When it's really cold out, I find I'm leaving them on high nonstop and they never get too hot.

Lightman,
Maybe you should get them checked. I will start to sweat after 15 min with mine on high. They get hot....but very slowly. Then they need to go on low or off usually. This is even when its -40*F.

CD - good info. I have had points where I"ve turned mine down to low/off, but thats once the interior is fully warm/hot from the heater going. I figured I am going to get SLIGHTLY less heat than the rest because of my seat covers.
Saturday I took a date to the Cavs game, and she asked me 'Hey, how long does it take for these things to warm up, do you have a blanket?' So it's not just me!

They do take forever. I forgot to mention she was also sitting on a towel because there were a few specs of mud on the seat from my ATV'ing earlier in the day. She WAS wearing white pants. If you saw her you'd put up with it tho

Lightman,
I had a 2001 with the leather seats with heaters and they would get hot enough on high to make you sweat. I now have a 2003 and the seat heaters do not work well at all. On low I can not even tell that they are on. I have had it in the shop for this problem and the dealer says it is commom and that the seats were working properly. I have also searched the wiring diagrams and have found no way to adjust them. If you or anyone figures out how to make an adjustment please let us know.

Slightly longer than a Saturn doesn't really satisfy me No offense.
Lneat1 - they do stink, and that also stinks that you took it in to no avail. Then again, you live in Texas so you dont have much room to be upset with the heated seats

my observations.
they will produce no heat untill you sit on them.
they do take longer than some other systems to heat.
my conclusions
they could be better and chevy's are better but the extra 5k for the chevy still negates the better heated seats IMO.
IMO every vehicle has its pluses and minuses no manufacture has all the bases covered. the chevy has it drawbacks as well.
I think the towing capacity is also alot less on a jag or a jetta but I don't know the exact figures. so there is quite a trade off there as well. ha ha

Welll hognutz, you happen to find them acceptable considering your circumstances. I really don't find them that acceptable.. Oh well, not much I can really do at this point.

My '00 Ram had way better seat heaters. Low was like the '04 high is, and high was, well, high. Much faster to heat too. I think these heaters are OK, better than no heaters at all (by a long shot). When I got my '03 I took it in to have them fixed because of my experience with the earlier ones. My wifes '93 Volvo's seats heat up slower than the Dodges.

Has anyone had any experience with the Katzkin seats with built in heaters? I was thinking of getting an SLT and adding these as due to the fact that, while I think that the suede inserts look good, I don't want them in a truck.
