Yeah, me too. How could the wind always be blowing it back toward the cab? Kind of annoying.

Yeah, I'm getting that, too. Makes me wonder... Don't get it driving, just backing out of the d-way and stopping. Not good, but I think it's just the air still moving forward when the truck stops or something like that. Got occasional whiffs in my 98.5, too but not as much as this one.

Normal. You guys are smelling the fresh aroma of engine lube oil. It'll go away in a thousand miles or so as the oil ages. Its not exhaust fumes, nor fresh #2 odor.
Rotella is strong in my truck, but Delvac isn't. I'll let you know how Amsoil is in a few weeks.

Re:Exhaust Fumes in cab
I drove a large diesel truck for years and the only time I had fumes was when there was a exhaust leak at the turbo......This is NOT fresh oil smell......If it is where is it coming from? 8)

Re:Exhaust Fumes in cab
I have seen a post elsewhere that said it was a bad seal between the cowl and the hood that was letting engine fumes get sucked into the vent that brings in fresh air. You will notice that you only get the smell when:
A. Your at a dead stop....
B. you have the sys. on fresh air

Thats MR Hoss to you buddy!
Re:Exhaust Fumes in cab
I think everyone pretty much decided that it's coming from the crank case vent tub under the hood. I kind of like it....but I might be a little .

If I knew how to send my fumes to you Hoss I'd be glad to get rid of it!
Also has anyone else heard about the cowl seal deal?

Re:Fumes in cab
I tried re-sealing the cowl gasket, I just doubled up the rubber gasket with some 1" pipe insulation. Before I could see daylight thru the gasket, peeking out from under the hood. But that made now difference... >
Another thing to consider is that there isn't a gasket around the entire hood, only a section by the cowl.

thats certainly the case for the 02's you mean the same is true for the 03-04's? On my 02, my dealer re-built the cowl seal and built it up with extra foam. worked pretty good. now my 04 is worse than my 02 -- just not "really bad". I'll have to look at my cowl seal

Re:Fumes in cab
As someone said above you are smelling the crank case. The vent goes straight down and you can see how the gasses go straight up to the vents. The solution is to add a hose from the end of the tube down about an extra foot. this work pretty good for me but I still get a small amount of fumes. When I get to the store agian I will buy about 4 feet and run it back past the cab. I think you need 3/4" i.d. and a clamp. It took me about 10 minutes the first attempt. I am going to get the oil changed the end of the week and it is always stronger then. I may not change if is no different than it is now.
