fuel gauge/sender issue?
just put a new fuel sending unit into my 03 dodge 1 ton dually, and fuel gauge still reads almost full all the time. sometimes after i fill it and turn truck on it jumps right to full then a minute down the road the fuel light comes on. has anybody had issues with the stock in dash gauges going bad? thoughts?

You can do an instrument test.
Hold the trip button in and turn on the key. The instruments will self test and the gauges will swing from one side to the other. At the end there may be some error codes in the odometer.

Sorry, I do not have a list of the instrument codes. Maybe someone else will.
Did the fuel gauge swing from one side to the other? If it did then the gauge may be OK.

I had the fuel gauge on mine stop working. Dealer said "can't get sending unit separate if the in-tank conversion was done", mine had it done, would have to buy new pump kit . Found used switched and still no workie. Took to dealer to test, found out harness strap had shorted near ECM and fried fuel gauge circuit in the ECM. They fixed wiring and I had to spring for a different ECM and get it flashed for for my truck. . Not sure if mine actually tossed a code or not. They didn't say anything but pay-up .
