1994 2500 SLT 4x4 Fuel gauge did not work. Put new sender in now it only reads 1/4 to 3/8 when full. Low fuel light comes on and stays on. Bad ground or bad connection somewhere or what. Mother-in -law is feeding with truck. Had a accident with horse and cracked vertabra in neck. Hard to work on anything.

 

Definitly check the connection at the tank. For me many times undoing the connector has been the hardest part of the float replacement. Easy to damage the wiring.
Sometimes the rails that the float and fuel pickup tube ride on can get a burr that causes it to hang up. With the entire module removed check that it moves freely. There are also a couple of self tapping screws whose pointed ends can rub the float causing it to hang.
