Front Bumper Removal Help

I did a search but never really found a description of how to remove the front bumper.

I have a 2006 model. I see the 4 bolts attaching to the frame which are attached together it seems like via a flat bar between them. However, it looks like the intercooler is in the way to remove the bolts out all the way.

Do I have to remove the tubing to the intercooler and intercooler itself to get it off.

Any detailed description of how to remove the bumper is appreciated.

you gotta remove the intercooler bolts at the top on the core support. the intercooler sits on a crossmember towards the bottom of the cooler, you will have to lift it straight up to access the bolts that must slide out of the bumper brackets..
one person CAN do it, its much better with 2.

I think you did yours the hard way #2. I pulled the bumper off my 03 and never had to mess with the intercooler at all. Just a few bolts and it came right off. I did the same with my 07 when trying to install my grill guard. Once again, just a few bolts holding it to the mounts. I did mine both times by myself but it sure would have been easier if I had some friends that I could have called to help me. I guess if I wasn't such a jerk I would have some friends.... ...

Thanks guys, I do have my 2 teenage sons to help (as one of them is the reason I have to remove the bumper in the first place)

I will try to pull the bolts out without removing the cooler. I had a buddy make the same comment that he didn't have to move the cooler on our friends 04 Dodge. I'm wondering if this is a newer year thing although you say on your 07 you didn't.

If I do have to move the cooler do I assume that by doing so I have to remove the tube connections at each end also. The one on the left that goes into the engine bay looking at the motor looks like a bear to get to the clamps.

From the '06 service manual,

FRONT BUMPER
REMOVAL
1. Using a grease pencil or equivalent, mark the position
of the bumper support bracket (5) on the frame
rail tip (7) to aid installation.
2. Disconnect the fog lamp electrical connector at the
left frame rail.
3. Support the bumper with a suitable lifting device.
4. Remove the bumper support bracket (5) nuts and
bolts (8 and 9) and remove bumper.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the bumper onto the frame rails (7) and position
the wheelhouse splash shield into the support
brackets (4).
2. Install the bolts and nuts (8 and 9).
3. Line up the bumper with the marks made previously
and tighten the bolts and nuts to 95 N·m (70
ft. lbs.).
4. Check and adjust the bumper alignment as necessary
(Refer to 23 - BODY/BODY STRUCTURE/
GAP AND FLUSH - SPECIFICATIONS).

DODGEZILLA 04 is right, I have done a few 06 bumper (see classifies) and #9 bolts (diagram picture) do not come out without pushing the intercooler about 1 to 1.5 inch. Bolts are too long to take out of the holes without pushing the intercooler out of the way. You do not have to move the tube connections.

Like Dodgezilla said take the 2 bolts out (easy) and that allows for the intercooler to tip at an angle.

Why do I feel like I'm stuck in between a Star Wars Jedi Knight/Pupil type thing but for trucks.

That hurts # 2!
Yes, I am God Diesel and he is merely a former pupil who went astray......

All I can say is that I have not had to pull any bolts off the intercooler. Now, maybe doing that would have made things easier, but it is not totally necessary....

No. I don't hate you over any of it, yet......
I hate that your truck makes more power than mine and I really have no comback for those statements that you make....
