Front Bumper Removal

Well, Im new here as everyone can tell I guess. I recently got my first diesel and I ordered a Ranch Hand Raplacement Bumper and it should be here tomorrow. Im going to try to put it on myself to try and same some money and I was wondering if anyone has ever installed one and any tricks you might have for putting one on. I know there are 4 bolts that hold the front bumper on I think and to get it off just take those 4 bolts off and bolt the ranch hand on. Any tricks, help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, and welcome.

There should be two more bolts/supports towards the outside edges of the stock bumper.
Air tools will help, as there isn't much room to rotate a ratchet in there,
the radiator/intercooler/AC condensor really get in the way.

Case, First Welcome to the site!
Second, fill out your signature with your truck info...
Third, I removed my bumper with hand tools, not realy too bad but air tools would have been much faster and easier on the knuckles

There is room to get a 1/2 drive ratchet on the bolts of a 91( dont know what year ya got) But be carefull not to round out the carriage bolt holes in the bumper or it becomes a real PITA.....

Welcome to the site! If you've got a 2nd gen, just 4 nuts on the frame, then the two supports that phox mentioned. Good Luck, and make sure and post some pics of the new ol' girl....

I'm about to do the same on my 3rd gen. Looks to me like there are just the 4 bolts to the frame on the 3 gen. My '01 had a bracket on each side of the bumper as someone mentioned.
