Fold-flat swap...

I'd like to upgrade my rear seating area to the fold-flat system. Can anyone tell me if this is a direct bolt-in swap/upgrade from a donor truck? I'm pretty sure it is, but not having seen two trucks side-by-side, I don't know for sure. Thanks for any info!!

It should be as long as you get all of the necessary parts and pieces from the donor. Mine was supposed to have the fold-flat storage, when it came in it did not have it. They removed the fold-flat storage from the truck I had test drove and put in in mine in an hour or so.

I traded in a 2003 1500 4.7 Dodge Ram for a 2005 CTD 2500 and I removed the floor before trading it in since the new truck didn't have it. The bolts were the same, there was just a bar of some sorts that the 03 had that the new one doesn't, but the floor works just fine with the four bolts (two per side) that are there, not sure what the bar was for, a co worker has a 03 2500 Hemi and his truck didn't have the floor, but still had the cross bar, must have been something that DC figured they didn't need any longer.

Yeah mine (without the fold-flat) has that bar, and I can't figure out what it's good for either?? I haven't really looked it over all that well, though; I'm sure they thought it was necessary for something

Thumbs up

There is one of these in the classified section. It's referred to as a "Cargo Rack" and says "Attention '03 Owners" . Apparently he thinks it's an '04 exclusive. Both my '03 and '04 have it. Stock with leather, optional otherwise. He wants $150 for it. I think that's a bit high. I seem 'em occasionaly on ebay.

I love mine. I put a sleeping bag there for the dog. Keeps her off of the seats.

It Is SOOOOOOOO EASY

My 04.5 was supposed to have one and it was shipped without it. Cost when ordering is 99 bucks but if you try to by the pieces it is over 400 dollars. i was going to refuse the truck but the dealer had a used 03 on the lot that had one. I gave him the 99 bucks for a new one and in 15 minutes I had it removed from his truck AND installed in mine. Same bolts and everything. Watch for a price you are willing to pay and go for it

To those that swapped, did you also swap out the backseat? Mine, without the fold-flat setup, is a complete bench seat. The trucks I have seen with the fold-flat setup have a 60/40 split bench back there... Is the seat itself also a direct swap???

Good thinking. I have a GSP puppy coming soon and have been thinking, how I'm going to keep her off the leather seats as she grows up. I like the fold flat idea.

Don't know for SURE, but IMO, the split bench with the fold flat floor is only for convenience. The fold flat is also a 60/40 split, so it makes sense to have the seat that way also. Someone who has actually done the swap would know for sure. No one who has has mentioned swapping the seats also.
