fold flat load floor
fold flat load floor
I just took delivery of my new 03 3/4 4x4 HO. This thing is awesome. I actually found one with almost all the right options, so I bought it. It didn't have the fold flat load floor, but the dealer said he'd order it and sell it to me at cost. Now that the sale is done, he's telling me it costs $800!! What the??? For a piece of sheet metal with a hinge? Any suggestions? Does anyone know how much this piece actually costs?
Re:fold flat load floor
Don't have any idea what it costs from the *******, but I didn't order one either because I can fab one up a heckuva lot cheaper than what they wanted. Figure I will use some 1/2" plywood, a few hinges, some kicker legs for support, and use some of that roll-it-yourself bedliner to cover it for good durability and slide resistance. Probably going to work on it sometime in late November, so I will post pics on this thread if you would be intersted?

I tried talking to a couple of other local dealers, whose parts depts were completely clueless. I called my old dealer that kept me supplied with Mopar parts for my Challenger and they knew it right away. They even faxed me a picture! The bad news is the floor is indeed in two pieces, each of which costs around $400.

SO...here is my warning to all of you still buying...if you think you may want this (hell even if you dont) you should order it when you order your truck since buying it afterwards is ludicrous.

As for me, I'm off to the Home Depot for some plywood, a piano hinge, and some screws. TWZMYJP, thanks for the offer and suggestion to use roll-on bedliner material. I think I'll do that.

Just FYI, the dealer started out well. I got the truck for $1000 over invoice and they brought it from outside of Atlanta to Miami, and I didn't need to wait for a factory order. They just never bothered looking up the price of that floor.
The cost in Canada is showing 80.00 for floor And if you build
on www.dodge.ca You can print out and it shows 80.00
So I think your ******* is riping you off

buying a truck at $1000 of invoice is way too much. I got mine at invoice as have many others. Costco members can get these deals easily. Oh well you are happy, but could have bought that $800 metal floor and had some change left over for fuel. Sorry, maybe next time.

How does a dealer make money at invoice prices, one told me they get 2.5% holdback. That's $750 on a $30,000 truck if you can find one that cheap. They have to wait 90 to recieve it, so they Wal-Mart trucks, move lots of them at the low price to make their dough - and don't forget the service department, can anyone? :'(
Re:fold flat load floor
I agree paying $1000 over invoice is too much. However, usually when you get a lower price than that its because you a) take a vehicle off their lot or b)factory order. I did neither. I bought a vehicle that was in Atlanta and the dealer got it shipped to Miami.

Dealers get a holdback, which for Doge is 3% of invoice. In addition are volume based incentives and other bonuses. That's the other dealer profit.

Just to finish off the floor deal...I know the option cost is $80. However, if you try to buy those parts from the parts counter, they are more like $800. Thats the deal. Dodge is allowing you to buy them cheap when you order the truck, but replacing them, or buying them afterwards is way expensive.
Re:fold flat load floor
Actually, the Chrysler Dealers make 3% of MSRP for any vehicle sales. So they can sell a $35,000 truck and still make 3% of 41,000, or whatever the MSRP is.
