Foglight protection

I just had a foglight replaced on my 2008 Ram at a cost of over $150. Does anyone know of some sort of protective grill or something? Thanks

I had problems with mine a couple of years ago and there was a post here about some sort of protective coating. I ordered some and it was like a clear bra type of covering but a little thicker. I haven't had a problem breaking my foglights since. Maybe somebody will chime in that remembers what the product is?

I broke one on the 03 I had. Headlightswholesale was way cheaper than dealership part.

After that I put on some 3M Stonguard, and never broke another.

Becareful if your running higher wattage bulbs (9005 bulbs). I have the covers on my headlights for 70k with no issues. Then I swapped out the 9006 bulbs for 9005 bulbs. About 2 weeks later I got a brown spot on my driving light. After 4 weeks the spot was the size of a dime. I realized that the 9005 bulbs cooked the clear film so I had to pull it off...

Hmmm, I haven't had that issue yet.

I actually got some grills from the non-foglight trucks and they still fit over the fog lights. Little stuff might get through but it protects against the bigger stuff. The black surround just pops out and the grills pop in. Easy 5 minute mod, think i got them off of here used also.

I'm planning on pulling the black bezels out, wrapping some black plastic screen over the opening, attaching it somehow around the sides maybe with duct tape, and reinstalling the bezels. This seems like it would work but I have not tested the idea yet. I have a bunch of the screen left from when I covered my condenser with it....

The 3M film works great. No more problems since install. Rock Auto's supposed to have the whole assembly for $39.95.

If I remember right, yes, think you just have to grab one of the sides. Mine came out fairly easy.
