Fog lights intermittant
Fog lights intermittant
Hey Guys,
I appreciate the help I've gotten in the past, and now I have another question. I went out a few weeks ago, turned on my headlights, pulled the switch and no fog lights? The indictor comes on, so the switch is ok, but no lights. I thought it was odd to blow both at once, but figured I'd check it out later... Driving down the road, I hit a bump and the fog lights came on??
I have not had a problem until last night, the fog lights would not come on, and I have not gotten them to turn on since. I assume there is a relay somewhere which is not working properly... Any ideas as to where it is, or what else may be causing my problem??
Thanks in advance for the help...
Dennis

check all your wiring and connections. maybe a bad/loose ground??
fog light relay is in the PDC under the hood.
fog light relay info.....
The inputs and outputs of the front fog lamp relay include:
-Common Supply Terminal (30) - The common feed terminal is connected to a fused B(+) circuit at all times.
-Coil Ground Terminal (85) - The coil ground terminal is connected to a fused B(+) circuit at all times.
-Coil Battery Terminal (86) - The coil battery terminal is connected to a control output of the FCM through a fog lamp relay control circuit. The FCM controls front fog lamp operation by controlling a ground path through this circuit.
-Normally Open Terminal (87) - The normally open terminal is connected to the front fog lamps through a fog lamp relay output circuit and provides battery voltage to the front fog lamps whenever the relay is energized.
-Normally Closed Terminal (87A) - The normally closed terminal is not connected to any circuit in this application, but will have battery voltage present whenever the relay is de-energized.
The front fog lamp relay can be diagnosed using conventional diagnostic tools and methods.

intermittant fog lights
53 ****** (or anyone else that might come across this old post), on a '99 2500 sport my fog lights have 12.7V coming from both wires(LBL & R/O) going into the plug when the fog light switch is on or not, same at the bottom of the relay except that when the switch is on I'm reading only 3V or so on the LBL wire. Should this happen, or should the LBL wire go to 0V. Do you know how the LBL wire loses voltage, does it ground or is it switched to ground in the relay?
I checked to match up the relay information on your other post, except mine only has for terminals (space for a 5th but unused). All four are hot at the bottom of the relay when the switch is off (only the lightblue wire drops voltage when the switch is on).
If there is a ground, where would it be located, somewhere below the fuse box.
Sorry for jacking someone else's thread, I don't know how to start one on my own.

I have the same exact problem. Last night I went to turn the fog lights on and nothing!! the indicator on the switch come on but nothing. if you figure out what the deal is let me know. I plan on checking everything today after work.
