Update

I know this is an older thread and I just tired this. I am 99% sure it has nothing to do with cleaning the spline? It has everything to do with re-tightening the two bolts. I could see visible wear marks in the u-joint in the cab. It appears tight since it has lock-tight on the threads, but in reality the shaft wears down the u-joint a little. After tightening it the clunk went away. I did pull the shaft, but before you do try tightening them down.

slip yoke?

What do you mean by the "slip Yoke"?

With one end mounted to the cab and the other mounted to the frame there has to be some movement there. The clunk sound and feel in the wheel is probably a lack of lubricant as the splines can "stick" and then let go causing the clunk/pop.
GM has had big troubles with this, I haven't heard of it on Dodge.
