Question exhaust smell

OK fellas, I know that this is going to sound a little weird, but I wonder if the CAT on this thing is changing the exhaust smell? I LIKE the smell of diesel out of one of the older trucks or a tractor, but this truck smells almost like medicine or something -- not like a tractor at all. Am I missing something? Thanks.

My 04.5 600 is my first diesel truck. So I can not answer from a lot of personal experience with non CAT deisels. But I agree the smell is very acrid and nasty compared to some of the non CAT diesels the other guys have at work.

if you start it cold and jump out, you can smell real diesel exhaust for a minute before the cat warms up. once it warms up, it smells like a propane forklift.

I don't want to be all weird about it, but I kinda like the old school smell while this just stinks. This will have to be fixed some way or another.

Toss in a 2 gallons B100 per tank. Smells much better.

Yes, the '05 definitely smells GROSS compared to my '99 which had that diesel smell instead of smelling like a mix between a pharmacy and electrical fire. Once the warranty is over, I am not responsible for the life of any murdered kitties.

BTW, a neighborhood cat just had kittens under my house if anyone wants one.

yes, you can... but that technically is a federal violation [tampering the epa required components]

but for "strictally off road use" you can

it won't set off any sensors/engine lights...
