Double Din in a 2005

Hey everyone couple questions. A friend of mine is getting rid of his Kenwood double din radio

How would I install this in a 2005.

Option 1: Buy a radio bezel, and cut it up, and modify it so that it will fit snug. I'm very good with customizing, but might not want to spend the time.

Option 2 (If possible) Install 2006+ Dash into the truck. Is this even possible?

I think there's a kit someone is making and selling on ebay. I did what you said in option 1. I cut and used bondo to make it fit.

This is what I used as model.

Theres one on ebay yes made out of brushed aluminum. http://cgi.ebay.ca/2-DIN-2-DIN-DOUBL...3A1%7C294%3A50

I'm sure with enough work you could change out the dash, but no way it is worth the time and money just to fit a double din. I've got a spare bezel being shipped to me right now to mod for double din, it really shouldn't be that much work.

Yeah, I think I'll be going that route which is to cut and make it fit. Anyways, what kind of paint should I use after the bonda/sanding work. Any paint that matches the black dash very well?

I don't think you'll match it to well considering the texture of the interior. However that black texture stuff from the factory is probably the best you'll do.

I used flat black textured spray paint. I also used the install kit I had for the previous radio to help fill the gaps on the side so I didn't have to use so much bondo.

Very nice suggestion; also another idea with a touch of custom to it, would be to paint it your exterior body color.

JFaulkner is that picture of the one in your truck? That looks great. That is EXACTLY what I want to do. Was it a rough process??? What did you do to round the edges perfectly to fit?

No that's the pic I used as a model. I have to give mine another coat of body filler. I was in a hurry and sanded a couple spots too thin so it needs a little more time. It's not too bad to do though and that's coming from someone with little patience and no talent with body work. I have about 2 1/2 hrs in this. the left side of the radio is the part that needs redone.
