Dome light/odometer shuts off after 10 seconds?
I have had my truck for over a year. Normally the dome light and odometer would stay lit for a few minutes if I left the door open, only shutting off if I left the door open for longer than a few minutes. They would difinatively click off when the computer cut power to conserve the battery. Last weekend I vaccumed the interior, ever since the dome light and odometer shut off after 10 seconds. If I put the key back in the ignition the light comes back on for 10 seconds, then shuts off again. When I close the door the lights used to dim in steps and shut off, now they shut off instantly after 10 seconds.
The bumper to bumper warranty expired last month, 32K on the truck. Did I somehow program in a different light mode? Are the batteries getting weak or maybe the voltage sensing lead is compromised? Any other ideas? The truck works fine otherwise.
I do have a remote start 2 way alarm, but I do not think it is connected to this system.

Mine did exactly the same thing last week. I searched this forum and found two answers. One believed that the "computer" was defective and needed replaced. The other said that the "computer" had a "glitch" and needed reset by disconnecting the battery for a short time. Obviously I started with the latter. I disconnected my batteries (both of them) for 30 sec and reconnected.
Problem solved. The timer works as it should now.

Thanks BigDog. I'll try that this weekend when I return from San Antonio. I was hoping it might be that simple. At 3 years old I was debating on replacing the batteries, but I should be good until next summer with them.
