Directional Signal problem

I noticed the other day that the right (up) blinker stalk was on nothing was displyed in the dash directional arrow for a right turn. So i pushed it down for left and dang if the right one lit up and actually blinked. ???? So I try various things and figure that when the tilt steering wheel is in a certain position it must pinch a wire bundle and cause the troubles as they work correctly in other tilt positions... Any one else ???????

You may be on to something with the wire bundle theory. I have a problem with my blower motor cutting off when I lower the steering wheel to a driving position other than all the way up.
I opened up the bottom of the column (takes a T-10 Torx) and traced it to a 5 or 6 wire flat bundle that was bending with each tilt of the wheel up and down. Over the 98K miles on the truck, at the time, the repositioning of the wheel each time I drove it finally has broken one of those wires, but it makes contact when all the way up.
I decided not to cut into it yet and just leave the wheel in the up position now. I've gotten used to the position and the blower motor stays on when it is supposed to. 112K on the truck now.
Your signals operating the opposite bulbs would almost suggest 2 broken wires being able to touch in the bundle, could happen I suppose.
Of course the electronics in these trucks can do strange things too.

I think it's a common problem and the dealer is taking care of it under warranty - maybe a relay switch.

Had this problem in my 02 Chevy, wire snapped in the tilt column. The wire that snapped in mine was the dimmer, so the hi beams worked, but not the lows. It almost got me into trouble one night when I left the bar and the low beams quit working. Ended up having the dealer replace the bundle as the wire had actually pulled loose from the turn signal base.

I had the same problem with the directionals, right would blink left, left would blink right or not at all and so on. Turned out to be the Multi-Function Switch. Out of warranty so I got one from dodge parts for $39.00 and replaced it myself. Works fine now.

The Multi Function Switch is the whole Blinker Stalk assembly.

Slice, PM sent.

I need to know about this too cause seems like a common problem and i got it going on but after 3 times to the dealer during warranty they of course say cant get it to do it. Bet if i took it now that its out of warranty they would find it real quick...Wheres the best place to get this switch and where is it located? thanks

Aren't those things optional on vehicles now-a-days? You might check your blinker fluid, it could be low like everyone elses. Sorry, just funning with you. I hope you get it fixed on DC dime.
