Unhappy Dealer fixed door seals for me today...

Just got my door tearing the seal problem corrected at my local Dodge Dealership.

Looks like they used a crescent wrench with a rag stuffed in the jaws and can-opened the corner edge of the door back so it wouldn't rub a hole in the seal anymore.

It left me a nice crease in the top corner of the door panel, and the door to quarter panel gap is out, but the good news is that the door don't rub the seal anymore.

This is my 3 trip to 2 Dodge Dealerships to try and correct this problem. It's worse now than before it all started, body damage and get this... they ordered the wrong seal even after having the truck brought in to write up the service order, and turned my old seal around so that the tear is over the back doors where it isn't noticable.

Don't think that I let them off the hook, I made them sign a admission of damage on my service invoice and they have exactly 1 chance to correct this before I notify Dodge.

I'll try and post pics tomorrow.

God bless you man. If I were you, right about now I'd be locked up and there would be one less dealership in Louisiana. That's if I didn't go up in flames with the service writer, mechanic, and dealership.

Thats a shame. No pride in workmanship anymore. Dodge service is the worst I have ever experienced. ITs especially hard to take when you own other brands that do it right. With my Infiniti I get free loaner (unlimited miles unlimited gas), usually a new G35, with any service including oil changes. Plus they wash it, vac and clean the windows.

I dont know if this will help, I thought I saw on here another post about the door seal problem, and someone saying that Dodge came out with a "flatter" type of seal to help the problem. I guess if you do a search you'll prob find it. It was a pretty responsive post too.

Man, you got nerves of steel!! If I had a $40,000 truck, and someone bent my door with a wrench, I wold ask him which hand did he bend the door back with, and do the same thing to his hand!! And, I would have the dealer installing a new door very quickly!!

Good luck buddy, I feel for you!

I had a bit of a problem with mine as i posted just today about a ticking/flopping noise on the drivier side which has the redesigned seal. Sounds like those plastic wind visors you put on your door. But this doesnt have them. COuldnt figure out why the passenger side didnt do it. Then i realized that it didnt get replaced withthe first trip

Just had my seals replaced yesterday, don't see much difference, door is still digging into the seal. I did have them tighten up the door a bit and it really helped with the wind noise i was getting on the highway.

Here is a link to the TSB regarding torn door seals. It's for a 2004. But it should also apply to the other years if the seal arrangement is the same! They should replace them at no charge AND replace the door!

Torn door seal TSB.

I had my seals replaced with TSB 23-008-04 about 4 months ago and both sides are starting to rip out again. The replacements were the flatter design.

This is exactly why I won't take my truck in to have the work done on my door seals.. They are rubbing, so bad in fact, Ive got a hole in the Drivers side front door seal. I will fix it myself, and pay the extra money, because I know it will be done right. The ONLY reason my truck will see the inside of a dealer is to warranty a blown engine if it happens before I hit the 100k mile limit.
