Dealer & Chrysler NO HELP

???Who else has their paint peeling off their truck??I have been going back and forth between the dealer and D.C and the only answer is that "it's at engineering waiting for a fix" Now how long does anyone else think it would take to realize that these trucks need to be painted ?? I want some reimbursement if my 4 month old truck needs to be painted, either get it fixed before winter comes or give me the keys to a new truck and call it even!!!!!!!! What have your dealers done or D.C for that matter ? I'm very interested to know because I'm tired of getting the run around from these CLOWNS !!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the first I've heard of this!!
where is your paint peeling?
Is it to bare metal or the primer?
what is the build date of your truck?

Re:Dealer & Chrysler NO HELP

There is an old thread on this. Suggest that you do a search for the paint problems. Earlier this year there was a big problem at the factory with paint and a bunch of trucks sat on the rail cars waiting for it to be resolved. Never did hear how it played out.

Re:Dealer & Chrysler NO HELP

The paint peels down to the primer as it was primer contamintion that caused the problem, limited to first three months of 03 build, never heard how it "played out " because we are still fighting with the CLOWNS at the dealer and D.C, so was wondering if others were still waiting also.thanx

Re:Dealer & Chrysler NO HELP

Sorry to hear about your problem, Hope you get it worked out!!
I had to have a GMC partialy repainted & it was a nightmare, there was contamination & they only painted the bad panels, the diffrent panels faded diffrent & it looked like crap, make them do a total repaint!!

Fortunatly mine was built in June so I shouldn't have to worry about it.

Re:Dealer & Chrysler NO HELP

My first 03 was a buy back due to paint on bed and cab not matching. I refused to have a brand new truck repainted and area rep agreed. It took approx. 8 weeks to complete this process and was very agrivating dealing with the bone heads that Dodge contracts this process out with, but worth it. Now if I can just get my rear end replaced in the 2nd truck due to gear whine

Mr. Jimmey,

Gear whine?? This may be obvious - but have you checked gear oil level in your diffs?? You probably heard this already but, a large number of rear diffs shipped from the factory with low oil levels. Is it possible that youve already done some damage?

Re:Dealer & Chrysler NO HELP

good luck with DC! I am in the process of trying to get my truck bought back through the lemon law. I have taken my truck to the dealer 4 times for the same transmission problem, and they could not fix it then stated that the problem was not that bad! I called the national consumer line at DC, and they offered no help at all and were rude. Good luck to you.

Re:Dealer & Chrysler NO HELP

Dr. Evil,
I had the gear lube checked when I bought the truck because I had already been thru this on the first 03. The dealer said it was full, when I got home and checked myself it was low, instead of going back to dealer I topped it off. The axle was incorrectly set up from AAM as so many others you probably read about here and TDR. Not to say that all Dodge trucks are lemons, I just happened to pick two of them! But as I see it right now, my other choices aren't very appealing either!

Sounds like your dealer is a bit of a dick, Jimmy. I had my rear end on my truck replaced no prob. 2 days. Been great ever since. Snalesmen will tell you anything to get you out the door. I'm sure your rear end level in your truck was never checked. Best of luck with Ford.. J/K

Re:Dealer & Chrysler NO HELP

I had two lemon Chevy trucks back to back. Swore I'd never buy another GM product. Others say they've never had a problem with their Chevys. Anybody can make a bad product and what are the odds that you'll get two bad ones in a row? Probably pretty high odds. But for the price of trucks these days I'm not willing to bet on GM again. Taking a chance on Dodge. Fingers crossed.

Re:Dealer & Chrysler NO HELP

Yes I think if you do a search you will find some people who had their trucks taken back and a replacement ordered.

Re:Dealer & Chrysler NO HELP

??? So I got a call from D.C and they are sending me a letter stating that I will have to go back and get pics taken of the pathetic paint on my $50 000 truck, fine I can do that, but they still have no idea how to fix it or when they will have an answer as to when it will get repaired. Like I said before has anyone gotten their truck fixed due to the paint or even bought back?
