Daytime Running Lights

I know that the Daytiome Running Lights can be enabled on an 05 via a program feature. Has anyone found out how to do this or does the dealer need to connect a scanner?

Thanks. I will have it done at the first oil change. The dealer is paying so why not. I heard that Cummins puts the oil filter on real tight so the dealer can get it off and then Geno's filters for the DIY in me.

The DRL's are a nice safety feature and I wonder why DC doesn't program them from the factory in the ON mode and allow the owner an easy way to deactivate them if necessary.

Once you enable the DRL's be aware that when they activate (parking brake off) you are driving with reduced intensity main headlights. I inadvertently drove off one late afternoon (daylight) and drove till dusk (getting dark) and suddenly realized that my headlights were still in DRL mode. In other words, be sure to switch over to normal lights before it begins to get dark or you may find yourself driving, headlights on, and without any rear running lights! When its completely dark, your obvious hint to turn on your normal driving lights will be your dashboard instruments are not illuminated.

Are the DRLs programmable on the 2004 trucks???

Also, I did my first oil change and expected to have a tough time with the filter...spun right off...was I ever surprised. I had all kinds of breaker bars, sockets, etc. just expecting the very worst....

i thought about having my DRLs turned on but i turn on my headlights (and foglights for that matter) every time i get into my truck. just seems safer that way. tail lights are always on also. it has become a habit now. so even if i had the DRLs turned on i would still turn on the headlights anyway.
