Dash panel

Has anyone removed the center dash panel where the rear sliding window switch is? I'm trying to figure out if I can remove those panels easily so I can put a switch in there for some lights. Thanks.

It's all snapped in except for the bag hook screw, as far as I know.

It depends on which dash and consol you have. On some trucks it's really easy - the panel almost snaps off and on. On some trucks (like mine) you have to start disassembling at the bottom, and work your way up to the panel you're after.

I found instructions at a stereo web site.

I wanted to hide my lamp switches, so I put them inside one of the cubbyholes. Easy to get to, yet hidden from easy view.

The older trucks had the single screw holding the panel in. The newer ones like this one have several screws and you start with the lowest panel, including the cup holder assembly if you have one, and work your way up.

The 06 and up have two screws that hold that flipout cupholder, or in the case of the photos posted, the blank panel in. Once you get them out, leave them out. It will not rattle, and you can just give the radio bezel a good yank the next time for removal.

Nice location for those switches, I like it. I'm thinking of putting two switches in next to my rear window slider for the projection lights and turbo timer.
