I was wondering if anyone has this on there truck? If so do you like it pros and cons thanks.

 

I was interested in it awhile back. I talked to Don Thuren about it and he said most vehicles he's driven with it have a really jerky feel to it and would'nt recommend it unless you really need it.

 

I had it on my SD with 38s and 40s. I much prefer a normal style steering unless you NEED it. Mine was not as trouble free as you would expect. It was always leaking or giving trouble....... i think it is caled.... ORO

 

I run ram assist on my off road truck and love it. Pinky tip driving with 42's. Mines problem free, but does have a slight jerk to it.

The issue you would run into is that the hydroboost brake unit would need to be modified for high flow on the pass through side to really let the ram work effectively. Otherwise it wont get the GPM it needs. Many already report poor steering at idle with brakes on (normal for a HB unit IMO) and it might get worse unless you always gave some RPMs at a stop to trun.

 

K here is my deal I have had my steering box go out already once in my truck and I wanted to get something that is gonna take all the pressure off of the box so it last a longer. I have talked to several people they say go with the cylinder assist. I just sent my new box to get ported so Im hoping Im going the right way with this.

 

Doing a crossover steering conversion along with a DSS steering brace would probably be a better way to go.

who is porting it for you? Talk to Tom at PSC motorsports. He's the bast as far as i am concerned.

Why did your first box fail? Sector shaft seal? What size tires are you running? The gearbox should not fail that soon.

 

I just sent it to PSC Kelvin is gonna do it and send me all the stuff for cylinder assist. The box that is on there has alot of play up and down on the shaft that goes to the drop down pitman arm. The tire Im running is a Toyo A/T 305/55/20 which is nothing extreme and Im running a 20x9 rim. I agree it should not have failed this soon.

Id be pretty hesitant to run heims on a street driven truck. They just wont last as long as TRE's.

 

I'd start with the DSS brace before spending money on anything else. Solid steel has theirs and Defiant Truck Products has one now also. If that doesn't solve the problem then I'd consider hydraulic assist.
