Costs: Mega Cab vs. Quad Cab.

My buddy is going to trade in his 04.5 2500 for an '06 2500 Mega Cab or Quad Cab. The one thing we can't figure out is why the mega cab MSRP is $10K more than the equivalent quad cab MSRP? We basically built up 2 identical laramie 4x4 CTD's on Dodge.com - one quad cab, one mega cab. The quad cab sticker priced at $44K and the mega cab at $54K. Need to know why this is, so negotiations can start on the new vehicle. Are you mega cab guys paying that much more for your trucks than the same truck in quad cab model? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

Check out carsdirect.com , they usually are pretty close in pricing and will give you a good idea. Plus it shows, invoice and the price after rebates. I have been using it for awhile researching new trucks. Scotty

I did a price comparison on the dodge site the other day and it was about 3k difference in price. These were laramie with most every option. The megacab was $52,880.00 and the quadcab was $49,980.00.

Thanks for the input. I think I might have clicked a wrong button when pricing the quad cab. I just rebuilt one online and it was in the $49K range - closer to the mega cab price than I originally thought.

More of a rebate on the Quad, maybe? Is your friend a member of a Farm Bureau so he can get an extra $500 back?

I used that Carsdirect.com and came out with the exact price that I paid for the 06 megacab 2500 SLT 4x4 with a few other options and it was within 25.00 of what I paid. came out the $37,500.

I was at my dealer today having some work done. I wondered around the lot, they have a ton of Mega Cabs, maybe more than Quad Cabs. Most of the Mega Cab 4x4 SLT loaded were stickered at $49-$50k, the Quad Cabs with similar options were $44-$47k. I looked at 5 or 6 different stickers of each.
