If you are going there and staying through the winter I would get the mopar cold weather front and the plug for your engine block heater and you should be set.

Yeah the DC COld Weather Front is just awesome.
There are pics of it on my web site.
You only have to install 2 of the Extra Heavy Duty velcro type plastic strips.

IMO it's worth the money and you don't have to worry about someone borrowing it from you when you aren't looking

what part of alaska???

I'm in Fairbanks and have nothing on mine and it does just fine. Even in the stretch of -40 to -50 we had this winter. Just make sure you get in winterized here not in the lower 48 and be sure to plug it in. Mine started up every time first try and unless you do short trips it will get to operating temp fine. If you sit at a long stop light you can watch the temp gauge go down. I talked to one guy at the dodge dealership and they don't recommend putting any thing on the front due to blocking the intercooler, but with cold temps like we get it shouldn't matter.

I just would waste the money.

Take a look at my picture gallery for my winter front. Cheap and easy and it works great.

Don't know much aobut anchorage, but I'm sure you will like it. it doesn't get quite as cold down there. I've heard from some people they don'e even winterize thier vehicles down there. But with a diesel I would. Atleast make sure you have a block heater plug. All the gassers star pluggin thiers in around 20-15 degrees. I start when it hits the upper 30's. Or I just keep it in the heated garage.

i actually had my gasser freeze up on me last year when it hit about -30. Only had 1/4 tank of gas and forgot to plug it in. Oh that is another thing don't let it get below a half of a tank, or atleast we don't up here.
