Cold weather front

Hey guys, I just ordered a cold weather front from my local dealer and I thought I would see if there's any tips you could give me on it or maybe something I should know before I start to use it. Thanks, LCH

Yeah, I did a search and read the posts that came up. Most said that DC's was the best so I got it based on thoses posts but the posts dodn't say anything along the lines of pros or cons of using one other than warming up and maintaining operating temp quicker. I thought there might be something I needed to know like don't mess with it unless it got below a certin temp or maybe watch the exhaust temps or better mileage or worse mileage, that kind of the thing. Thanks for the response though....
The girl at the parts counter tried to convince me that they didn't have any such thing, I told her about being a member here and what it was called and to look in the book, it's in there I promise. All of them tried to say "I've never heard of such a thing" anyway they found it in the book and apoligized and let me have it for $92.00 out the door (lists for $118.00 plus tax) for not knowing and because I told them what you guys were paying for yours, (I'm a member of buisness link so that saved me 10 %.) I love this site LCH

Same here, I asked to order it and they had no idea what I was talking about. They thought I was talking about the grill inserts. The parts guys were so curious that they opened the box up before I got there. Went back for some other stuff and the same guy said they have 6 in stock and are pushing them instead of the inserts. I put mine on a month ago, got a couple flaps open right now. I've had my truck 3 years and had never heard the fan roar to life until I put it on.

I had to look up the part numer on the Dodge web page because my dealer could not even find or even get what I was talking about. I also paid about $92 because I had to locate the part number.

From what I understand how many flaps will be a trial and error game. You want to make sure that your temps don't rise above "normal" if they do start to rise oppen another flap. I am up in "Sunny" Rochester NY and I found that leaving the bottom flap open on days around 30 seems to work best. Once into the mid 40's I oppend the top and bottom flaps. As it was into the 50's yesterday I oppend all of the flaps and things looked good. The temperature has not dropped below 30 yet so I am not sure what will happen at that point. I just watch my coolant temp gage and outside air temps and note when I feel that I am running too hot at each outside temp I know to oppen another flap. The manual says about the same thing. Just keep the coolant below/around the 200deg mark on the gage. Sorry for the long post just wanted to add my $.02.

Part Number

Real quick, what is that part number for the cold weather front? My parts guy is also an idiot. He had no idea what I was talking about. THanks guys.

Another question, where on the dodge web site did you find this cold weather front. I would like to see a picture of it, as I am using the grill inserts now. In your opinion which one is better?
