Hi Guys,
Anyone remove the chrome cover on thier aluminum wheels and polish?
If so, how did they come out?
Have a good day,
jd

I did not think there was an alloy chrome clad wheel. The chrome clad that I have and others I have seen are steel not alloy. The alloys were either dull finish or polished as far as I know.

On the 06,s there are some wheels that are aluminum with a chrome cladding. They look cheap and I was wondering the same thing.

Keep the chrome, it is an upgrade. When an aftermarket offers chromed alloys, they are usually much more expensive.

Polishing aluminum is a PITA. You'd be better off trading someone for a set of OEM alloys that are not chromed.

I have a set in the garage, sure looks polished, not chromed. I could be wrong.

But I dont see how you could remove the polished/chromed without grinding/polishing....

these are chrome covers bolted on an alloy wheel. If you look close you can see that they are not chrome plated but an actual cover.

I've got the same crome clad ALUM wheels that came on my 06 mega laramie. I think they are part of the "Brite Package". Since I'm not really using mine, I dinked a bit with trying to get one of the covers off very carfully. I personally don't think it will be possible without tearing the cover up. Then it's a gamble on what kind of shape the Alum is in under the cover. Look like they are pressed and clamped on around the rim, and possible glued.

On the up side, the crome cover is alot easyier to clean.
