CB mounts
PSRumors,
Thats a very nice looking install you did there. very sharp!
THe BigBob mount looks alot like the mount i built for my 2nd gen to put it in the same spot. Looks like it just has to attach a little different. Heres a half @$$ed pic of the old one http://dodgetruckworld.tenmagazines....falo/91846.jpg
im waiting till i build my headache rack before i put in the cb (so i have a spot to put my antenna) but i was just trying to solicit ideas. thanks to everyone, this has got my wheels in motion.

that was my 2 low valve. I rerouted the vacuum lines to the CAD to that pneumatic switch so i could put it in 4 lo, but not engage the front axle (2wd, low range) it was great for maneuvering a heavy trailer around. i know lots of people had problems with the CAD, but personally, i wish my 05 had one.
I prefer Fire Stikx myself. They are stiff and wont flex, which may be a problem if you have clearance issues. I used the mountsthat they also produce, they are all SST construction and mount into he stake pocket holes. There was no drilling. Then I ran the cables inside the bed side walls and up the frame, into the engine compartment, to the drivers side, and into the rubber boot that all of the wires run through. On a 4 door, this will take 30+' of cable. I just dont like drilling holes in metal, just another place it can rust, so this worked out nice.
My set up
I mounted mine under the steering wheel. Fits nicely, with mic on the side. Dont have to look to find either. Cobra 29 with the wilson 1000. Great combination, never had a problem.
Good luck

Big Bob's, 6-sp Mount Correction.
Big Bob,
I STAND CORRECTED!!!
Please accept my apologies for posting incorrect information about your product. However, I had heard that they would not work with the 6-speeds. Obviously, I was wrong & hope my post did not hurt any sales of your product.
In an earlier post, I had mentioned my "primitive" mounting solution. It works but, is far from being a perfect spot for the CB.
I will do a search on your "6-speed friendly" mount as I would prefer to have it mounted where you put it. Can you still use the drink holders with your mount?
Once again, my apologies for the incorrect post.

No problem.
You will loose the cupholder that is closest to the driver. The other cupholder still works.
Custom install I did works great, everything is within reach, its routed out the firewall. Most importantly I did not lose my coffee holders, I will be dammed if a CB is going to take away my coffee holder!

Be sure, before you drill, that there is nothing on the inside (transmission side) of the hump.
I, also, agree that there is nothing I have found that works as well as the Wilson 1000 antenna. I have the roof mount. Requires drilling the roof but, it's there forever. I've had magnetic mounts & they occassionaly get knocked off the roof by low hanging branches, etc. If you choose the roof mount & have the side air bags, be careful where you put the cable.

Wilson is all you need to know about antennas. One tuned Wilson is better than any dual glass sticks on the market. Duals were big when antennas were so-so. The word from my CB doctor is stay away from radios with weather band, he said they don't pick out as many watts. PsRumors real nice setup you did. Is your coax running under the 3rd brake light lens?
