Cancelling Extend Warranty

Has anyone tried to cancel their extended warranty and what were your results?

I bought Chrysler’s extended warranty when I bought the truck new almost 3 years ago. With the state of Chrysler, I’m not sure if it will be any good if they go under. I’m thinking of canceling it to get back what I can before it is worthless.

Contact Chrysler and see what they have to say. Does your purchase contract of the warranty extension give you that option? Read it all before you call so you are informed of your rights via that contract.

I believe that in the newer models contracts there IS a clause about a refund if it is unused, but I cannot be certain of that???

I did not buy their warranty, it was too limited on the 2006 trucks, cheaper to fix stuff than the warranty costs. I figured that the 100K engine/fuel system coverage that came with the truck was all that was needed, and after reading everyone's problems regarding the extended warranty coverages, just NOT having all the emotional problems was a great savings to my health over fixing things.

I Cancelled mine on my 2006. All I had to do was notify them I wanted it cancelled and they sent a Check directly to my Finance Company. I had financed it as part of the original loan. The Finance company then asked me if I wanted to apply it to my loan balance or receive a refund. I chose the refund option. It took about 3 weeks for the entire process to complete.

Why cancel it did you not hear Obama say that as of today the Government will grantee the warranties on all GM and Dodge vehicles!

The commission paid to the dealer for selling it was from 40-70% so don't expect much.

I feel soooo much better now knowing that Obama will honor my warranty. I wonder how much that will cost taxpayers?

If you bought a factory warranty then the refund is based on miles and length of time you've had it. I have never heard of any dealer getting 40-70% of the price of a factory warranty maybe on an aftermarket plan but not factory.

That's ok. My friend sells cell phones for a living and gets good commission too, but he gets to pay it back if/when someone returns something he sold and he's been paid for the commission already. Sure it works the same way with dealers too.

Warranty coverage will only cover new purchases not vehicles currently under warranty. Government doesn't give a darn about you or your warranty.
