Are California Truck emissions different?
I know that when I got my tranny upgrades. I kept getting the P1740 code. Tranny shifted fine. So I called BD Diesel and my diesel mechanic that installed it. They both told me that the Ca. trucks software. The PCM will throw that code a lot. Unlike a non Ca. truck that has the Federal software programming. I don't know if that is part of the emmision control that Ca. has mandated. I didn't buy it at first, but made some sense when others here did the samething.
Thanks for all the info. I bought one yesterday except..........
I ended up with a GMC k1500...........I decided that I really didn't need a diesel, I just wanted one. When and if i need a diesel it will be a Cummins. After doing quite a bit of research, I just don't think there is any other choice, at least for me.
And for all of you in the Sacramento area, Folsum Lake Dodge called me this morning and dropped their prices to approximately 12K off of MSRP. That includes all rebates.
Again, thanks for all the info,
Hutch
