Cab Fan Problem
Cab Fan Problem
OK.. Has any one run into this.. My cab fan some times quits for a while. It seems that if it quits and I turn it off for a while it will work again.. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to when it will quit..
I'm hoping some one has run into this..

Sound like 4 possibilities:
1) Flat spot on the armature. When going down the road, it will bounce the armature to a point it will make contact and start operating
2) Control switch failing....But you may only see this on some fan speeds.
3) Blower resistor....When the element (assuming it's still resistance wire) bounces back into position, it makes contact and the fan runs.
4) Broken wire or intermittent contact...again the bouncing thing.
BTW...All trucks bounce (read vibrate) this can account for some intermittent electrical problems.

I wonder if you are getting that frozen evaporator core problem that's been talked about quite a bit.
When you say the fan quits do you actually hear no fan noise or do you mean there is no air coming out of the vents?
If you get no air but hear the fan running, do a search for "frozen" or "freeze" and you'll find your problem.
