buying advice

Hey guys

long term Ford SuperDuty owner...

very much considering buying a new Dodge 3500 Dually Cummins

trucks use...daily driver (me and dog)
haul farm stuff
pull my 32' travel trailer (bumper hitch)
possibly put a plow on it.

here's some questions, hope you can help.

Auto vs. 6-Speed Manual? performance better with stick, more HP?? will I get tired of shifting it real soon? always had autos in my truck but the stick cummins is intriguing...only drive 12K a year...have other car...how about resale on truck stick vs. auto...big concern??

Quad Cab vs Mega Cab? backing up trailers, plowing (occassionally-maybe) is mega too mega?? I do have two kids

Ca one get captains chairs and a manual trans?? like the captains!

I want to upgrade the truck immediately in two areas...

1. 19.5 Rickson Alloy wheels and 265/70-19.5 all terrain tires.
2. Tuff Country 2" front suspension lift to level truck and clear larger
tires.

Any thoughts on these upgrades???

thanks for the help really want to make right decision on this truck. Feel free to add in any other recommedations etc...

Thanks so much

Admitting you have a problem is the first step... sorry, had to !

Unless you will be driving mostly in town like I do (and maybe even then too) I would get the stick. The auto is too mooshy. The TC soaks up a lot of your power before giving anything back. The auto will hold up to towing the TT but will need work for the plow. I semi regret getting the auto because of the loss of power. When I pay it off and it will be out of warranty I plan on replacing the tranny and tc with an aftermarket. I don't rely on my truck for work (yet, will see after the merger dust settles) so I can wait to spend the money.

Later,
Al
