I have quite a bit of experiance replacing mirrors....but really have not had alot of luck just replacing the glass. Mainly because the factory uses some weird RTV like substance to glue the glass to the pivot mechanism.
In the case of power mirrors, most have gone to a ball and socket type attachment....which eliminates the RTV type stuff.
Worst case scenerio...I would pull off the old mirror/glass (wear gloves)...it should not be bolted on....get some RTV and glue the new mirror/glass back in place. Might need some small blocks of wood (like shims) and some "C" clamps to hold it in place while it sets up.

i'm a glass man, we buy our mirrors direct from ppg. they are glued or taped on. take a propane torch and heat the broken mirror , and pry off with a putty knife. re- glue with silicone. (not latex silicone.)about a 10 min job....

jay thanks. so it's just the GLASS itself, not like... the black ABS plastic backing that i've been prying at for 2 days?
I guess if I had ordered the part first, it would've clued me on on how to fix it. Seems like a relatively easy job.
Can you sell me the glass or should I go ahead and order it from the parts place.
FedEx broke this mirror and gave it back to me. So I get to Fix it and sell it again.

I replaced mine. Cause I broke it. After pulling it all I apart I could only find a complete replacement. My complete mirror was fine. I just broke the ball off thus the glass fell out. If you jerk the ball just right you might get the ball and glass to pop out of the socket. Not sure.
I found out if you buy the tow mirror upgrade from the dealer you get two mirrors for almost the price of one. ANd they anit cheap from the dealer..
Oh yeah I think most mirrors are the defrost type and have the heater running through the back of the glass. I think it is vulcanized on the the mirror it self.
