brake pad question
brake pad question
I'm a bit of a noob here so bear with me.
What is the thing circled in red? I changed out my (front) brake pads and rotors last week, but I noticed something strange. The brake pad with the "thing" is on the inboard side (caliper piston side) for both left and right wheels, but I noticed on the right wheel the "thing" rests in the caliper assembly facing "up" and on the left wheel, it faces "down".
Also, when putting the piston back on the caliper assembly, I noticed the the right side goes in bottom first then top, but on the left, it's top first then bottom. Hummmm.....?
I wanted to run it by y'all. Thanks in advance for any info.

i'm going to take a guess on this, i'm guessing the brake squeeler. it'll touch the rotor and make that squeeling noise to let you know that your brakes need replacing. if im wrong, sorry. somebody will let you know.
