Body lifts?????

I had a Performance Acessories body lift on my 98 Quad cab. Nice kit. Looked good and had no problems installing it or for the nine years I owned the truck. Has anybody put one on a 3rd gen diesel? I have a Megacab and wondered how hard it would be and what it will look like.

I have the same kit on my Mega. Nice kit. I did make things a bit safer though. The washers that come in the kit for the body are not strong enough so I took the large washers that come on the factory bolts and pounded the bolts out. Used the Large factory washers with the new bolts. Also, the bolts for the bed, there are a couple that are not long enough (in my opinion)(not enough thread engaugement) so i went and bought a couple longer ones. The steering shaft extension is a billet unit and very nice. Just make sure you get the correct one before installing the ENTIRE REST OF THE KIT!! LOL!! (don't ask me how I know that). They did send the correct one right away and was very good with it. ALso, I called them after I installed the kit and told them that the gaskets for the intake spacer are not correct. The grid heater is grounded thru the gasket. the kit comes with paper style gaskets. They sealed up good but got a check engine light right away. So I went to the dealer and $14 later had 3 correct gaskets, replaced the paper ones and cleared codes and no problems since. I have a couple ideas that might help if you want to PM me with your phone #, I can give you some pointers. One thing that we all should look at even if you are not installing a bodylift is to check your A/C condensor and intercooler. Mine was touching the intercooler and if I did not catch it as soon as I did, it would probably have a hole in it. So I spaced it out with a couple washers and everything is GREAT. The bumpers were easy to install and look great. The hard part was tearing down a truck that only had a couple hundred miles on it!! LOL!! PM me and I will help in any way I can.

Chris.

nope nothing at all. Infact It stood up to a 50mph nearly head on crash. The body bolts bent, but nothing came apart.

Looks mean, but alot to do about nothing. Weakens the truck, and raises your center of gravity. JMHO.

as far as raising the center of gravity, the truck is 9 feet tall anyway! LOL!! and if it held up to a 50mph crash with only bend body bolts then i really don't think it made anything weaker. That is good news to me.

THe ugly mug in the pic is my buddy who is a tech at a local GM shop. He is 6'2" so that gives you an idea of how tall the truck is. This shot is just after completing the bed. The entire process took a FULL day. Breakfast to past dinner!

Looks good. I like the idea of the extra clearence for tires without messing with the susupension. Keep the factory ride but get the lifted look. Dodges are the only trucks I have seen body lifts on that look good. Thanks for the info and I will be intouch when I decide to get mine. Probably will be a little while, but I am sure it will happen.
