I got mine from NAPA, but a cummins dealer will have it also. When I had the high idle (cruise) enabled on my truck, the tech told me to put it in neutral as the fluid does not circulate in park.

That is correct. Just like letting it idle awhile to circulate oil into the turbo, it is very beneficial to let the truck idle in neutral if you are towing something. A general rule I had was at a stop (rest area or fuel stop) I'd let the wife and kids go in ahead to the restrooms and when they came out I know it had been long enough. I had a temp gauge in the pressure line between the pump and cooler and would watch it fall to around 140-150 before shutting down. Of course this shouldn't be necessary if you aren't towing, however you can NEVER get tranny fluid cool enough!

a cummins shop is the cheapest place-something like 10.00-11.00 bucks.

Not sure about other brands, but Dodge trannys have always needed to idol in nutral to move oil. That is why you are supposed to be in neutral to check the fluid.

All have the heater installed in the block from Cummins. You may need the cord or it may be there already.
If you have your trans modded, your trans guy most certainly will modify your valve body to get fluid flowing while in park.

The people that buy these trucks paid more for them, pay more for parts, take better care of them, and generally, sweat the small stuff more than necessary. While it is probably true that idling in park will cause some small amount of loss of service life, it is statistically insignificant unless you leave the truck running in the parking lot for hours at a time. The few minutes warming up in the morning or waiting for the wife to finish up at Walmart just won't hurt the truck as long as you stay on schedule with fluid and filter changes as stated in the owner's manual.

No fluid circulation = pump starving for oil, put it in nuetral and set the e-brake.
