Bisltein Shocks

Can somebody tell me the part numbers for a 2004 dodge Bilstein shocks? I see that there are gray ones and blue and yellow ones. Which ones are better? My truck is a stock height 4x4. I see that Autozone has them and Summit Racing has them but their part numbers are different and I am not sure if they are the same or not. I have done searches and know I need the 5100 series, but want to make sure I get the right one if I order them from summit.

Thanks bigblue. That helped a lot. Their site made it easier to find what I needed.

The blue/yellow ones are great for highway use. The silver/blues (5100s) are designed for off-road use. The 5100s are also made for trucks with a 2" lift, while the blue/yellows are stock height. If you're not doing some pretty serious off-roading, you won't need the 5100s. Save your money. On the other hand, if you have a lift, or if you do significant off-roading, short of competition, the 5100s are great.

I happen to have the blue/yellows, even though I have a 2" lift (didn't know I had a lift at the time I bought the shocks). They seem to be doing fine, though. I don't do anything off-road, so they're surviving.

the 5100's are a drastic improvement over stock, The 5100 is not just an off road shock, it really performs on road as well, not sure of the price difference. also the 5100 is a 0-2inch lifted shock, meaning it works just fine in a non leveled or lifted truck.

Ive compared kyb, pro-comps and the 5100's beat them hands down.

all my experience is on the 2nd gen trucks, but the 3rd gen and 2nd gen use the same shocks.

just put 5100's on my 03. and they perform like I expected

You're right. The 5100s are as good on road as they are off road, but they were designed for moderate-to-heavy off-road use. They will provide a stiffer ride on-road than the blue/yellows. It's not an uncomfortably stiff ride on-road, particularly if you have over-sized tires, but for a stock-configuration truck with stock sized tires, that is only driven off-road to park a trailer at the camp site or stock yard, the extra you will spend on the 5100s will be wasted money. The 5100s generally run about $15-20/pr higher than the blue/yellows.

Most people who say the 5100s are a "great improvement" over blue/yellows forget they are replacing worn-out shocks with new ones. There are plenty of folks who could say just the opposite by replacing worn out 5100s with new blue/yellows. Just my opinion.
