Best time to buy?
Hey Gang,
I'm going to purchase a Diesel soon but I'm getting mixed reviews from friends on when is a good time to buy a truck: Some say in August because dealers have the 06's in and want to push the 05's out Or End of the year like November/December? Also to purchase the truck at end of the month.
What do you all think? The best prices that I can get here in Southern California right now are prices on Carsdirect.com

Depends on how much you want to wrestle with the dealer. I bought my 05 in March for 7k off the sticker... but if you want to waityou will probably get good deals too..... another thing to keep in mind with the new GM program selling at "employee" price and Ford offering a simular program used trucks will reduce significantly in value too, and if you dont mind used 1 - 2 year old trucks will be at great prices for all makes

I did the same as stateline, bought in November (Saturday after Thanksgiving) also got 10k off sticker. You have to be willing to buy off the lot and either get more or less than what you wanted.
I think this year, you could buy whenever. Truck/SUV (anything that gulps fuel) sales are down, and dealers are doing ALOT to make sales.
Go in now and shoot them numbers. If it doesn't work, go back in August, if its still not where you want it to be, go back in November. Eventually, they may get close enough to make it work for you.

And remember, if there some options that you want that are not on a truck on a lot, work them into the deal - say fog lights for instance. And don't take delivery until they are added.

I went in with exact figures from CarsDirect.com and Edmunds.com. I searched the dealers inventory online and found exactly my build, model, options.... got their dealer stock # and said here is the truck I want find it. Test drove it still in shrink wrap!
I then told the local dealer you can either give me their price or I'll just have it delivered to my door from them on Monday take your pick.
Dealer sticker: $52910.00 My price:$37825.00
