Battery Blanket

Is a battery blanket an electric blanket that warms the battery or is it just insulation? Is the blanket thermostatically controlled to come on only in sub-freezing temps? What is the approximate threshold temperature? How would one verify it is working properly? I thought about slipping one of those a/c "needle" type thermometers between the battery and blanket overnight and checking it in the morning to see if the temp was higher than ambient. Thanks.

I dunno. Does it get that cold in Houston to even be worrying about a battery blanket? I grew up in MI and we were never concerned about battery blankets.

Maybe someone on the North Slope can answer those questions.

I kinda agree, Houston, Texas I just don't think it stays cold long enough to warrant Battery Blankets
