Anyone Find a Cheap Fix To A/C Blend Door Problem???

I've had the annoying blend door problem on my truck for a couple years now. Only this winter it has went from a simple nagging problem into a full blown pull my hair out experience. Usually all I had to do to get the defrost or floor vents to work was move the blend switch back and forth a few times and it would go into place. Now I can fight with it forever and nothing. Sometimes it works most times not. Really hate this when frost is on the windshield and can't defrost. Or my feet will be freezing cause air only blows out the dash.

So, has anyone come across an easy and cheap way to fix this so common of a problem??? Dealer wants $500-$600 to fix. Don't know if I'm that annoyed with it yet.

You need to figure out if its a blend door issue or a switch/control head issue.Hard to tell from your description which it might be.

If you are getting air only out the face vents and it will not switch to the defrost/floor it should only cost aproxx. $90 for the door kit and 4 hours to do it yourself with simple hand tools. Search member ratlratl for the procedure to remove the dash. He has done a good write up with pictures. Made it easy for me and I thanked him alot. The door that switches between face vents and the defrost/floor position can be replaced without draining coolant and refrigerant. Good luck and PM me for more info if needed.

Mine seems to be the opposite. I get no air out the face vents only the floor vents and the little defroster vents on the side of the dash. Is this still the blend door broke?
