ANNOYING: door chime & reverse horn blow. Please help...
When the drivers door is open, and I put into Reverse (to go back a few feet to level my camper) the horn goes off. Is there any way to disable this?
With the key fully in the ignition and drivers door open, the door chime goes off. Is there any way to disable or shut down the door chime entirely? In my old Toyota I found the actual chime itself and "disabled" it with a dremel. Is this possible in these trucks or is the chime wired through the computer?
Yes, I know these are "safety" features. And I want nothing to do with them.

Regarding the honk in reverse, if your seat belt is fastened it will not honk. When I am going to back up to my boat trailer, I just fasten the belt and then get in the truck.
IIRC, there is another way to permanently disable it by doing something with the wiring harness that feeds the latch itself. There was a thread on it some years back, try doing a search.
Regarding the chime, I'm not sure.

Seatbelt Chime and Back-Up Honk Feature TURN OFF

Many of you 3rd Gen Owners are tired of that "Saftey" feature we know as that "Annoying Dingger" Well Here is the Cut and Dry method on how to get rid of that chime.
Here's the procedure...
1. With all doors closed and the ignition switch in any position except ON or START, buckle the driver's seat belt.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and wait for the seat belt warning light to turn off.
3. Within 60 seconds of starting the vehicle, unbuckle and then re-buckle the driver's seat belt at least three times within 10 seconds, ending with the seat belt buckled.
4. Turn off the engine. A single chime will sound to signify that you have successfully completed the programming.

That scared the crap out of me the first time I did it. I did the seatbelt chime off but it still honks in reverse with the door open. I do what ss does, but still forget at times and startle the campers.
Here you go. You can find this and other helpful info in the "DTR WIKI".

I have not tried this yet but will this procedure delete that irritating reverse horn blast while the driver door is open as well? Or is this just for the seat belt chime...

About the best thing would be to run a switch interrupting the horn circuit. Kill the horn backing up, restore the circuit when you're done.

I also tried the procedure several times and it didn't work. I know other people and have read other posts about it working though. However, nobody with an 06 seems to be able to get it to work.
Fatpete,
The chime disable procedure posted above will work but it is a seat belt chime disable and only works when the door is closed, meaning you can operate the vehicle without a seat belt on and the chime will not come on. I have done this on my 06 and it works for the seat belt chime. I think what you are asking about is the door open chime and I've not seen a way to disable that.

But I notice you have a manual tranny and I don't think this applies.

Don't know what to tell ya, it worked on mine. I've got the little red man but no chime when driving. I disabled mine because I putt around on the deer lease and who wants to wear a seat belt then!
Un plug connection and use a female connector to slide onto the pins. I crimped them slightly first to ensure good connection. Been bouncing around under there for a year or so without any problem. I do not know the technical difference for this piece but mine is an 07 5.9 .
