Air cond. going!

Had the rig out towing last weekend and the more we worked the air the less it blew.
After about an hour, even with the recirculate on, it just wasn't pushing enough air.
I had the front side windows tinted down to 35% and it was still getting too warm.
Off to the dealer today to make an appointment while under warranty (35812 mi.) Its close but still covered!
We'll see how this new dealer works out???

Yeah I thought of that (especially with the employee pricing) but the wife unit kindly pointed out that the new warranty would only cost me $10000!. I just hate it when she thinks logically.

My 03 did the same thing. I think they ended up replacing behind the dash. Mine sounded liek it was still blowing just nothing coming out the vents. That was the one thing the dealer was able to fix on my truck.

Same as what mine is doing. What was the fix? Mine goes in tomorrow for a possible injector pump, the AC and a new rear power window motor. It really sucks when it rolls down and quits. What a hassle getting it back up and in place...took a tech, myself and a 3rd set of hands 3 hours to do it. Of course the service manual says how to remove the motor only if the window is in the 'UP' position.

Mine does the same thing. It seems like all of the vent doors are closed at the same time. Air is still cold and fan is still blowing, but there isn't much air coming out of any of the vents. I'm out of warranty so I would appreciate any information from a dealer trip.

Thanks

If your vents act closed ALL the time there is a TSB on that. Its got a broken door on the heater box.If it freezes up extended driving thats what we are waiting a answer on.

Hey "Domie" .. I posted on 6-22-05 the same problem with my truck, got some good replies from members. Took it into the dealer yesterday, they didn't do squat with it, said all was well "no problems show on computer of my truck"
Took it back in this morning met with the service director, service manager and the servie writer who wrote it up....after lots of flying words they agreed to check the STAR system for any fixes , check the sensor on the evac cooler under the dash, and use TWO temp gauges in different cooling vents to check deeper.
Drivers vents blow cold, passneger vents blow hot..they said that recalibrating the A/C doors (yesterday) should have fixed it..HA HA and BS..THey also said their is no TBS on our A/C's freezing up and making it so "no air flows through the vents" I will post tomorrow, or when I get it back and let you know ....LOWCO has had work done on his and it seems to be the most logical answer...

Maybe that's my problem. It has only happened twice in the past four months and once I park the truck for a while and restart it everything is fine. I don't think it is a broken blend door because both times it has happened has been after I had been on the road for an hour or two. I didn't adjust the thermostat, vent mode, or fan control, but airflow began to drop off.

Cause its freezing up and air can't blow through a block of ice.If and when this happens punch the ac button off for 5/10 minutes and back on.Then it will work again. It thawed out.If your turn truck off and watch underneath it awhile it will in a few minutes dump a LARGE amout of water from the ac drain..Mine's been doing this two years.Thats why (WE)would kinda like to know what repair was done "behind the dash"on VPI post! He got a invoice stating what was repaired.I assume they replaced the evapoator unless the fin temp sensor can be moved or replaced seperately.(fin temp sensor, thermister, etc.called differant things by differant manufactures).

Well, back from the dealer- - guess what- - can't find a thing wrong with it!

Of course its only 75 degrees and cloudy today and they only drove it 5 mi so its what I expected.
Mine works great 80% of the time- real cold and good volume out of both sides. When towing heavy and at 90 deg. outside , it just got less and less volume till almost nothing was coming out of any vents.
The freezeup sounds the most logical, but what causes that? They say mine is full of 134 , so its not low coolant charge.
The big thing is that I got it on record under warranty. Now I'll do the legwork myself to find the problem and then get them to fix it!

NO FIX HERE

None of them are going to do it on a DARN test drive.SOB.You needed to get hard *** with them! They ALL take extended hiway driving to freeze up.I bet its the fin temp sensor.Thats the what controls ac cycling to keep it from freezing. Eaither the sensor itself or the location of it.What happened to this VPI fellow. Its on HIS ticket what was repaired.

Mine was the freeze up, happens when the humidy is higher. Turning off the compressor for 1 minute and the problem goes away until it freezes up again. During the "defrost" of the evap, you can see shards of ice blow out the center vent when the blower is on high.

My dealer is aware of this problem and I will post the results of the fix this weekend.

The tech that we needed to do it was away today. Something was mentioned about a switch in the back of the dash and the freeze up which my dealer said there is a solution to that with a new sensor to cycle the AC before it freezes.

More when I get it.

Scotty

Just to add...new codes on the truck...ECM communication error
Injector pump comm

and the dealer thinks I have at least one dud injector...we thought this was a problem over the winter too. At least they claim they can get the parts asap.
