ABS light came on, then went off???
ABS light came on, then went off???
OK, had a really strange event during shut down this evening. When I get home every night, I let it idle for about 30-45 seconds to cool down a bit. For some reason, tonight, just as I was about to twist the key off (my hand was reaching for it, but not touching it), I heard a "DING" and noticed the "ABS" light was on. I let it set for a second, and it went back off. This is the first time that has ever happened, although I have suffered from numerous flashes of the "CHECK GAGES" light. Anyone else had this one??

anybody here disconnected that **** abs?? with four wheel disc threshold braking is much safer IMO and I know I can stop faster, don't know why they started putting it on as standard equipment. :

Yeah, they always come on at startup for the diagnostic routine. But, this was while it was idling, just so happened to be when I was getting ready to shut down. Fired it up this morning, and there were no problems, so maybe I just have a gremlin somewhere... :
Re:ABS light came on, then went off???
Did you ever determine the problem?
I had one occurrence of this happening while it was running. Never happened again. However, what I do have happen about half the time, is I get the ding just after starting the engine when the ABS light goes out. Half the time, I don't get a ding.
Do you get a ding at startup, or does the light just go out?

Mine did this several times. After having the flash for the "Check Gauges" light done, I've not seen it since. At first I was a bit concerned by it, but I checked my brakes after it happened the first several times to find nothing. I'm assuming it was associated with the "Check Gauges" TSB.
