? about flash for daytime run lights
Hello people, I want to get my truck flashed when I pick it up to have the DTR light activated. Do they give you a paper or reciept or something that proves they did it?? My Ins. company will give me a discount for DTR lamps, but being that these trucks dont come from the factory with them, I would think my Ins. company would want some sort of proof to show I do have them activated. Also, are there any other flashes I should do before I take the truck home? I would rather do everything at once, since the Dealer is like 35 miles from my home. Thanks for any advice.
Badd Dogg,
I dont know if my dealer did a favor for me or what but, I ordered mine with the daytime running lights and my window sticker (you're going to love it when it says this truck was built especially for 'your name here' ) shows it as a $40 option - any way, just go and tell them you want it done and they should do it for you - I wont swear to it but, if they dont know how I think I read if they change the country code to Canada they should work but, I'm not a tech so I really dont know. They should also be able to give you some sort of receipt or just take your truck to your insurance guy and show him it has daytime running lights and that should d o it too.

You might also want to have them enable the High Idle feature on the truck. It will automatically rev up to 1100 rpm when it is cold out, but I have heard they can enable it so when you have it in 'P' or 'N', you can turn on the Cruise and click on SET. Then adjust the idle with the Resume button to bring it up when it isn't cold out. Basically, so the truck warms up faster. I plan on having my dealer do this first time in the shop. Not sure if it would cost any $$ to have it done.
I had both the DRL's and the high idle(cruise buttons operated) turned on at the dealer for free, my Bro works there. They gave me a receipt that stated they did both. Also the automatic cold idle that kicks the R's up to 1000 at about 30 deg. F comes on every truck from the factory already enabled. The cruise control button higher idle control (1000-1500 rpm) does not, that is the one you must get enabled.
Thanks for the reply's everyone
, Also thanks for the advice on the high idle option, sounds like a good idea, would be nice on those chilly damp mornings!! I will deff. look into having both of these done before I bring my truck home. Thanks again.

I will agree that when it is cold outside (like below 35 degrees or so) that the idle will automatically rise up to 1100 rpm from the factory. The other High Idle is to turn on the Cruise, press Set and then adjust the idle via the resume, coast?? buttons. That will raise it up to 1100 rpm and then more upon pushing the buttons. THAT is not enabled from the factory and dealer needs to enable that option.
I found this out after bringing my truck home. So I need to pay the dealer a visit to enable that feature.

Yea, Im deff. gonna look into having that high Idle option with the cruise buttons activated. Sounds handy on those 37 degree days, when its not cold enough for it to kick in on its own, but cold enough to shiver while you wait slowly to warm up
. Thanks for the help guys!!
