Looks good Shane - are you going to build a psuedo floor between the two middle seats so the kids are not stepping into the storage floor area when they are going to or from the rear seats? (piano hinge and lexan sheet?)

dodgezilla,

yes there is a photo in my gallery taken over xmas of our rig on the way to disney

you have to have the right 5er though, some 5ers have pin boxes that are very short and keep the rig closer to the cab, my pin box sets out front of the trailer by 18" from the factory, i moved it back about 2 1/2" and added an rv5 10" extension to move the 5er off the rig, the photo was taken prior to the 2 1/2" adjustment i just made

actually the height of the new rig has been more of a problem for my 5er than the conversion

i had to raise the 5er 2" with blocks, i removed the spacers from the dodge to lower the tailgate by 2" and its still not right, i am doing a 2" suspension lift this weekend and then ill adjust my hitch up by 1" hopefully that will be enough, i am also going to larger tires for an additional 3/4 inch lift

rctj,

yeah i still have some upholstery work to do, i dont think ill cover up the cup holders though they will come in handy as the litlle ones get older
call me later we can do lunch or something

I'd like to see someone splice the back half of a (wrecked?) quad cab onto the back of a megacab, then add the shortbed. Would need to lengthen the frame, but limo conversion companies do that all the time.

Looks Good! Doesn't the bed of the truck sway independent of the cab? How difficult was it to cut thru the back of the cab & seal your cab extension?

the conversion is sealed with a seriously heavy rubber accordian like boot

mckinley conversions did the cab extension, they have been doing these since 1982

i helped install mine so i got an up close view of the whole process, i also designed and fabricated the new rear bracket system that allowed me to use my factory rear set in the conversion. my idea, this was the first one ever done that way.

vick cut out the rear of the cab with a plasma cutter, he then welds in new metal to allo the boot seal and to reinforce the truck floor, evrything is then primed and painted before the conversion goes in.

jwooden,

alton customs out of michigan does just those kinds of things, they do alot of six door conversions, they specialize in six door haulers, they build your frame so that you can still use it to haul like it was intended, unlike most limo companies that would stretch it but your hualing ability would be compromised

we considered the six door before we did this conversion, but the turning radius has to be for the birds and they wanted 20k, i only have 4k in this conversion including the custom buckets

$4k isn't bad at all for what you got. Cheaper then dropping a Cummins into a 'Burb (and even then, you couldn't pull your 5-er).
