5000 mile trip, anything I should replace?

Okay, I just found out I won't be able to get my car together in time for my holiday trip so I'll be taking the truck instead. I just got it so I don't know much about the service history other than that it has new front balljoints and fresh fluids. The truck is all stock and has 93,xxx miles on it. The tires and brakes are good and it drives pretty well. There is a slight vibration from the driveshaft so I just ordered a one piece shaft, should be in tomorrow.
I have most of the parts for the '08 steering upgrade but they aren't installed. I'm going to get those on and align it and balance the tires. What else should I do for reliability and mileage? I just want to be able to do the whole trip with no problems and no worries.

front hubs or free spin kit?
cool tube intake?
new batteries?
anything else?

You pretty much listed the things that are important befor going on a trip, like brakes, fluids, Ect; so I would say enjoy your holiday.
I would rather drive that truck over the car anyways, and you will know alot more about the truck when home.
Your mpg will be good if your easy on the go pedal.
Have fun.

Have not needed it yet, but I always take a spare fuel filter and what I need to change it, in case it stops up for whatever reason. I'm sure if I took it out and then leave home, I'll probably end up needing it.

nelrod: that's a good idea, I also just got a spare airbox clip just in case. I'll be driving on a decent bit of dirt roads so I'd rather not have my air box fall apart.

I'm getting custom axles to put the ford 8.8 IRS into the back of the RX7 to handle the power of the LS1 that I already put in the front. It'll be a lot more fun than the truck but the truck will probably be a good bit more comfortable. The engine made 345hp and 351ftlbs at the wheels in my last car and this one weighs about 200lbs less and has much better aero. I'm shooting for over 30mpg on the freeway and over 1G steady cornering. All told with fluids and full interior it'll weigh 2700lbs.

I would check belts , hoses, If you are going into the bitter cold you might want to have the batteries tested. Take some anti gel additive also.

It won't be super cold, I'll be going out to southern california then up the coast into central oregon. There is usually snow up in Oregon but it doesn't get super cold like back east.

Anyone think I should worry about the hubs? They're original but don't show any signs of play and don't make any noise. I may just be looking for an excuse to get the free spin kit.

yeah i would get an extra belt and make sure all your fluids are good change the oil and such. if you are really worried about the hubs i would just grease them. take the wheel off and then take the caliper and hub and dust shield off right on top of the bearing is the abs sensor. take that off witha 5 mm allen and get a needle greaser. pump some grease into it and turn pump and turn i usually do about 15 pumps because there isnt a ton of grease coming out of the needle. they will last a long time. the abs light will come on for a little while but will go away after the grease has cleared.

Good idea, sounds a lot cheaper than any other option too. Thanks for the replies and the well wishes guys. I'm looking forward to a good trip.
