I have 4.10's, 315's and a 6-speed. I did all the ratio calculations, milage presumptions, power curves, etc. I decided 4.10 was the only way to go. Wrong! Unless you pull MAX weight ALL the time I'd go with the 3.73's. I'm constantly hunting for 7th gear on the highway. I live way up in the mountains so the 4.10's have been okay but I'd be better off with the 3.73's. I have been known to change ring and pinions in my other vehicles to get lower gears (time and again) this is the only time I've ever felt like a higher ratio would be better. These things have so much torgue that the "old" rules don't really apply. You'd be better off getting higher gears and bumping the power down the road if you want even more umph.

Are you getting the auto or 6spd. I've driven both, and the auto with 4.10 wasn't bad at all, and that was with the stock tires. It'll only get better with the 315's. If you're getting the 6 spd, I think the 3.73 would probably be a better bet.

285s with 4.10 gives 3.96
Here is a chart you can plug in the axle ratio, tire size you want to run and the speed you like to cruise at- press calculate and it will spit out the engine RPM's
With a 6 spd, I think 3.73s are the only way unless you're always pulling at or over max weight (like commando said). I sometimes hunt for 7th on the highway, and first is really too low unless you're towing. 2nd gear starts are about right in day to day traffic. For the auto, though, I would do only 4.10s. The auto's 2.45:1 1st gear is pretty low and needs the rear gear to help it out with big tires. You may get a bit of a flat spot off idle with the big tires and the 3.73s, but a fueling box should help that out a lot.

315's came in last night, only 1 day UPS from Shreveport, and went down and had them mounted at on post AAFEES. This morning went to Dodge Dealer and had them set the "PINION FACTOR" for the 315's. The Revolutions per mile at 45mph is 601 for these tires and I have them set at 45psi all way round. I immediately noticed that when at 65mph tach is just under 1800, at 40-43mph tach is around 1100 rpm and engine is lugging a little, so I'll have to adjust and drop into 5th gear, which I did and it rev'd up to 1400-1500rpms. I noticed a little rub this morning going into a parking spot, but think it may be the tire hitting the mudflaps, that are mounted to the Bushwacker Street Flares. Yes, the nose is still down, but man these tires look sweet. I also noticed at atound 65mph I have a little steering wheel vibration/shimmy...it may be that the tires aren't warmed up yet (only 5-6 miles)..or not balanced correctly or tire pressure too high in frt. I'm heading south texas tomorrow and will run for 5-6 hours...so will see then how it responds and take back to tire shop for rebalance or new tire if needed. Gotta love that road hazard/balance/rotation warranty you can get through AAFEES...It was too dark and rainy last night to take pics...maybe try tonight before dark and post in my gallery...
oh the 2" leveling kit is just a spacer that fitson top of the front coil springs. You have to remove wheels, remove shocks, drop the coil spring out to install them. You may have to remove one of the swing arms to get the "A" arm to go low enough to get the coil out and back in...and you may or may not need an alignment afterwards, but just have it checked to be sure...No, I do not have the 2" leveling kit on at this time...Wife is ****** enough I bought new tires for a new truck
