Yup, American Axle Manufacturing. AAM925 up front. AAM1050 or AAM1150 rear, depending on the truck's options....

Yeah Dana used to make Chrysler diffs. Someone said in another thread that Jeep Grand Cherokee's had some problems with noise in Dana diffs and Chrysler replaced some with AAM's and ultimately signed a contract with AAM because they stood behind them better. I'm sure it all boils down to $$$$ IMO. Nat

I have a boatload of pics in my gallery of my 2004 axles. AAM is a GM spinoff. Used to be GM Corporate axles. Same company that makes the GM Corporate 14 bolt full floater. Same axle, new company.

All 3500 and HO 2500 diesels have the 11.5. SO 2500 diesels have the 10.5. Don't know about the gas...

Dana 60 front, Ford 10.5 Sterling SRW, Dana 80 hybrid DRW. Dana 135 on the F450's and F550's.
I *think* these are correct. Someone jump in if I'm wrong.

At least in '03, the 2500 SO's with 5 speeds also got the 11.5; it was the slushbox 2500 SO's with the 10.5.

According to AAM, the 11.5 is rated for 10890 ft lbs and the 10.5 is rated for 9999.

If you look back through the threads you'll find that a lot of folks with the 11.5 have had bad howls from the rear, and many dealers are not ready to touch them. I had to go to another dealer whose hearing was better, and they didn't hesitate to put in a gear set which corrected the problem.

Isn't is amazing on how fast dealers' hearing starts to fade when it comes to noisy rear ends. I think some of them would rather install an amplifier for the radio rather than touching the diff.

It seems to me that most of those problem child rear gears were 3.73's too.

They were bula, and I put on about 500 miles pulling this weekend, and no howl. PS I tooted the horn when I passed a guy with a third gen 3500 pulling some heavy duty pipe on a 20' goose neck. When he gave me a wave, my kid says not to do that cause next time it could be a loony with a gun. I told him dodge brothers aint loonys- they're just dodge brethren!! (Man I love this truck!!)
