Anybody running that combo? How's the power loss? I have a smarty, but keep it on level one due to stock tranny (and especially if I go to 37's). BTW, my truck is an '05 quad cab w/auto tranny. I tow about 6 or 7K.

I have this combo but I only have an edge ez set on level 4. It has plenty of power, but I haven't ever drove it stock or towed yet so I really dont know how good or bad it is.

3.73s + 37's + Smarty + towing 7k..........Don't blame Dodge for the tranny.

I do.
Works fine, 3.73s/48RE/37s, only power adder is Edge Juice/Attitude(and straight pipe/air intake)

Power is about the same, takes just a tad more boost to get going, but once cruising its fine, and with more highway time, I get better fuel mileage than with my 35s...(about 1mpg better)

bingo!!

sounds like your changing your truck from a "tow" pony...over to a "show" pony!

I'd have to agree!!!

I did the same mistake thinking I could tow heavy with 35" and 3.73. I did it, but mpg stunk and EGT's were high when pushing it. I hated the truck so much I ended up ripping out the lift and 35" tires for stockers (actually converted the truck to dually, but that is another story for different thread )

I guess you have to determine what you want to use your truck for: show or go!

As for doing this with a stock tranny......IMO, I wouldn't even think of it.

Well i just got back from a road trip and with 37's and 3.73 gears i was turning 1650 @ 70 and just ran on smarty 3. Gas mileage actually incresed with running those rpms but i wasnt towing.

I havent towed yet but got a buddy with a mega and 37's and he tows 19k fifth wheel and has no trans problems.

I can't imagine towing 19K lbs with 37s, esp a fifth wheel. That fifth wheel has to be jacked up sky-high to fit. That transmission isn't long for this world towing those loads with a stock transmission...
