2800 Miles - How Much Damage??
Well, I just read and found out about the "recall" that has not been properly announced on the 2006 trucks. It is the fuel vent recall. The fuel tank has TWO exposed vents that water and contaminants (dust, etc) can enter into the tank of fuel and cause PROBLEMS (ie - injector failures).
The "solution" by DC is adding vent hoses to prevent water from entering BUT that does NOT stop sand, dirt, etc. The better way is to install a 1/4" fuel line hose and install a fuel filter at the end of it so that debris will not enter the tank.
I will get this fixed tomorrow but...
Could I have done some damage by putting on only 2800 miles??

The vents are exposed on MOST of these trucks since they were introduced in late 02.Folks been adding hoses and old type VW fuel filters to them for a while now.

Top of fuel tank kinda in the center. In front of D/side rear wheel kinda snake your arm WAY up in there and in a indention you will find two nipples in a hollow. On a GAS truck there part of the emmison system where hoses for a carbon canister system would plug into but its not used on the diesel.THEY left them uncovered. My indention was full road grit.Nifty place for water and grit to get traped.

I haven't done the vents on mine since they are sitting above the tank, not recessed like I have seen in the pics. Guess there's a difference between the SWB and LWB versions.

Its just so the hoses are block and still VENT.You point the fuel filter or filters(depends if you T them in) down when you tie wrap them up near the filler neck. There was photos of the nipples, hoses and filter or filters attached at one time being posted.
